A senior guard on the Pingree School boys’ basketball team has become a member of the elite 1,000-point club.

Issac Carp of Wenham became the 10^th Highlander to achieve the mark in a game versus Landmark School earlier this season.

Carp began his high school basketball career as a two-year starter at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School before transferring to Pingree.

In addition to Carp’s personal accomplishments, the Pingree team has achieved a 14-4 mark, including going 8-1, in the Eastern Independent League this season.

“Isaac's honor is very well deserved, as he is one of the hardest working players to ever wear the Pingree uniform,” said Pingree Coach Steve Gibbs in an announcement from the school. “Isaac, an exceptional student in the classroom, as well as a star on the basketball court, is currently being recruited by many Div. 3 schools.”

On top of it all, Carp has diabetes and must use a pump during games, according to a recent profile in the Salem News.

And while several Div. 3 college programs are eyeing Carp, the News reported that Carp has been accepted at his top choice, Skidmore in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Not long before surpassing the 1,000-point mark, Carp joined his teammates on the boys’ varsity basketball team in the “Coaches vs. Cancer Game” versus Governor's Academy.

Pingree emerged victors, 61-53, in what was a dramatic game. But the game also featured the players lacing up their sneakers with pink shoelaces to show their support in the fight against cancer. In addition to helping raise cancer awareness, the event helped raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
