Vaich Named Finalist for Second Elementary Principal Job

Carrie Vaich, the principal at Winthrop Elementary School in Hamilton, was named Monday as one of two finalists to become the next principal of a Newburyport elementary school.

Principal Carrie Vaich has been named a finalist for an elementary principal job in Newburyport.

The Newburyport Daily News reported Tuesday that Vaich and Lorene Marx are the two finalists to become principal at Molin Upper Elementary School. Marx is the evaluation team leader for the Andover Public Schools.

One of the two women – narrowed down from a pool of 75 candidates - will replace outgoing Principal Lori Gallivan.

It’s the second time in recent weeks that Vaich has been named a finalist for an elementary school principal position in another district to the north. Late last month, .  No decision has been made yet on who will get that job.

Vaich began at Winthrop in 2007, replacing Martha Cesarz after her retirement. Before coming to Hamilton, Vaich was assistant principal at Newbury Elementary School.

Vaich and Marx will meet with the school’s parents during two afternoon sessions in Newburyport today, the Daily News reported.
