The Generals boys hoops team will host a first round playoff game on Friday at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. The question is - who will the opponent be?
As the top seed in the MIAA Div. 3 North bracket, the Generals (15-3) have a bye and will play the winner of Tuesday's game between eighth seed Pentucket (11-9) and ninth seed Arlington Catholic (11-9).
Head Coach Doug Hoak planned to keep his team battle ready with a scrimmage Saturday morning at the Regional against Chelsea.
The Generals will keep whoever their opponent is on the defensive, with dynamo point guard Stephen Tam leading the attack.
Tam's 15.5 points per game and speed on the break merited the junior captain the CAL Player of the Year Award.
But without senior Pat Hendrickson, who suffered a season ending knee injury, the team doesn't have one of its top guns.
"It changes us in terms of what we can do offensively," Hoak said. "It shortens our bench a little bit. But we have to learn to compensate."
Senior Colin Kenny has filled in Hendrickson's starting forward position, to go with the other starters, center Chris Hamilton, forward Jake Prince, shooting guard Jake Lindland and Tam.
Hoak said the team will look to hold another scrimmage early this week before Friday's game.
