Alexa McCloughan will serve as chairman of the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School Committee for a second straight year.
Eight of the School Committee’s nine members backed her to lead the School Committee when the committee met on Tuesday. It was the first time the committee met since last Thursday, when voters put three new members on the committee and two incumbents were defeated.
One of those new members, Bill Dery, was the only one to vote against McCloughan as chairman during the meeting at Buker Elementary School.
And one of those new members, Roger Kuebel, was also elected by a majority of the committee members to become the committee’s vice-chairman, 6-2.
Kym Donnellan, who was elected to the committee last year, and Dacia Rubel, in her second term, voted to oppose Kuebel as vice-chairman. Kuebel abstained from the vote. Before his election to the School Committee last week as the top voter-getter in a five-candidate field, Kuebel was chairman of the Wenham Finance Committee.
Donnellan was named committee secretary, newly elected member Sean Condon as assistant secretary and Ann Minois as treasurer.
