The bell hanging on the wall inside the appartus bays at the Hamilton Fire Department is just one of the ways Hamilton firefighters honor the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks 10 years ago.

The 10 year anniversary of the attacks on New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania is on Sunday and this week on Patch will will honor the connections of the two towns to that fateful day.

The bell at the Hamilton station has been hanging there since April 2007, when the station was opened as part of the town's combined public safety complex.

The bell is part of Hamilton's Sept. 11 ceremony each year, when it is run is the tradition sequence of five groups of five rings which, when multiplied together, equals about the number of victims in the attacks.
