Hill to Serve Third Term as Member of Republican Leadership

State Rep. Bradford R. Hill, R-Ipswich, has been reappointed by House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) to serve a third term as House Minority Whip. The Minority Whip is the second in command for the Republican Party in the House.

The Republican caucus ratified the appointment.

Hill represents Hamilton and Wenham in the House of Representatives.

“I am excited about the Republican Caucus’ potential this upcoming session,”  Hill said in an announcement of the position. “The challenges facing the Commonwealth have not dissipated and much hard work lies ahead. Hopefully, our colleagues across the aisle will listen to what we have to say and work with us in order to get Massachusetts moving in the right direction.”

Hill said he anticipates a busy legislative agenda and said he will join his Republican colleagues to remain focused on economic recovery, fiscal responsibility and creating an open and accountable state government.

“Brad is both a great leader and a tireless advocate for the residents of the Fourth Essex District,” Jones said in the announcement made on Thursday.  “The upcoming legislative session will be full of extremely pivotal decisions, and I have the utmost confidence that Representative Hill will dedicate his time and energy to making the Commonwealth a better place to live, work and raise a family. I look forward to serving with him in his capacity as House Minority Whip for another two years.”

Hill was unopposed and reelected to an eight straight term in the House last November. He's an Ipswich native who was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1998.

As the Fourth Essex District representative on Beacon Hill, he also represents Ipswich, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Rowley and Topsfield.

Before he was elected to the House, Hill was a member of the Hamilton Zoning Board of Appeals and served as a selectman in the town of Ipswich.
