An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Monday, Jan. 30. Here are five things you need to know:

1. Weather: There’s a chance of light snow on Monday morning before the day turns into a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures into the upper 30s. It will be windy with gusts up to 30 miles per hour.

2. Sherlock Holmes: Neverland Theater’s spring production at the Community House of Hamilton and Wenham is “Sherlock Holmes Goes to Hollywood” and a second round of open tryouts is scheduled for Monday afternoon at Hamilton-Wenham Library. Producers are looking for middle school and high school students. Tryouts run 3-5:30 p.m.

3. Happy Baby: Dr. Harvey Karp is known as a top expert for his renowned parenting book. Now some of his tips for expectant or new parents are available in person from Happiest Baby on the Block Consultants Cynthia Griffin and Amy Larsen of Early Childhood Partners. The session is planned for Monday night at Hamilton-Wenham Library from 6:30-8 p.m. Registration is required by calling 978-468-5489 or e-mailing griffinc@hwschools.net.

4. Wenham Dogs: If you want to avoid paying a late fee to register your dog in Wenham, you have two days left. Tuesday is the last day to avoid a $25 late fee to register your dog in Wenham. The regular charge is $10.

5. Hamilton Selectmen: The Hamilton Board of Selectmen are scheduled to meet on Monday night at 7 p.m. at Hamilton Town Hall, with the agenda calling for the meeting to last less than an hour. The board is planning to name two members of the board to sit on the Patton Land Task Force that will spend the next few months coming up with a plan to use the Patton home and land that is being donated to the town. Three community spots on the committee are open and applications are being accepted through Friday.
