Five Things to Know on May 24: Friday Night Dinners Continue

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Friday, May 24. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Showers: The forecast calls for showers and the chance of a thunderstorm on Friday with temperatures getting into the 60s. There will also be some fog to start the day and the wind will blow lightly from the south.

2. Dinner: The Wenham Tea House’s Friday night dinners continue on Friday evening. Seatings run from 5-9 p.m. with 10 percent off the $39 per person charge before 6 p.m. This week’s menu includes a variety of entrée choices, including Center Cut New York Strip, Roasted Suckling Pig and Grilled Vegetable Crepes.

3. Construction: Memorial Day weekend is a big travel weekend for many people, and to make things go a little bit smoother MassDOT has announced that all construction work will be halted for the weekend. No work will happen after noon on Friday and will not resume until Tuesday morning.

4. Hurricanes: We have seen the devastating damage that can be done by Mother Nature after the tornado that struck Oklahoma. Here in New England, the greatest threat for damage from Mother Nature likely comes from hurricanes and the 2013 hurricane season is about to begin on June 1. 5. Library: Government offices, including Hamilton-Wenham Library, will be closed on Monday for the Memorial Day holiday. But a reminder – the library will also be closed on Saturday. It will close at 5 p.m. on Friday and reopen on Tuesday morning.
