PHOTOS: Generals Girls Runners Close in on 7th Undefeated Season, Boys Win Too
Both the boys' and girls' cross-country teams defeated North Reading and Triton on their home course at Patton Park on Wednesday afternoon.
The girls’ cross-country team at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School is inching closer to its seventh straight undefeated regular season after defeating North Reading and Triton on Wednesday. The Generals had 15 points to the 50 points each from both North Reading and Triton.
The boys’ team (7-2) also defeated both North Reading and Triton in the meet at Patton Park in Hamilton.
The top eight girls all finished together, with the same time – 21:50 - Meg Blatchford, Sarah Duffy, Carrie Goodrich, Emily Horgan, Claire Pacione, Kerry Phelan, Emily Senning and Emily Weigand.
For the boys, Hamilton-Wenham had 20 points to North Reading’s 34 points and 24 points versus Triton's 31 points.
The top Generals runner was Matt Gillis in second at 18:06. Other top scorers for Hamilton-Wenham boys were Dan von Staats (3; 18:10), Jack Blatchford (5, 18:17), Kevin Rutigliano (7, 18:44) and Lucas cruz Nascimento (13, 19:16).
Both teams next run versus North Andover on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at home.
