Where/When: Winthrop Elementary School; Saturday, 9 a.m.
Why Go: This is one of the biggest holiday events of the year in the two towns,with all sorts of gift ideas for Christmas and the special "Children's Secret Shop" where they can secretly buy a gift for their parents for $5 or less. There will also be a silent auction, cookie walk, Scholastic Book Fair and lunch wil be available. The event is a fundraiser for the Friends of Winthrop.

2. HOLIDAY YARD SALE AND CRAFT FAIR
Where/When: Hamilton Council on Aging/The Meetinghouse; Saturday, 10 a.m.
Why Go:Park once and take it all in, both the craft fair at the old library and then walk across the parking lot to the Winthrop Boutique. There will be plenty to choose from.

3. CANTEMUS: 'TWILIGHT IN NEW ENGLAND"
Where/When: Christ Church; Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: This evening concerts is the first of Cantemus' 30th anniversary year, featuring James Woodman's The Midwife's Tale and Amy Beach's Mass in E-flat.
Pricing: $20 adults, $17 senior, under 21 free
4. BUY A CHRISTMAS TREE
Where/When: Variuous location; All weekend
Why Go: It is just about the perfect weekend to buy a Christmas tree - Thanksgiving is more than a week behind us and the calendar officially turns to December. There's plenty of local options, from the EdFund sale at Patton Park and a Dodge Tree on Willow Street in downtown Hamilton to Burnett's in Wenham.

Where/When: Green Meadows Farm; Sunday, noon
Why Go: Green Meadows gets into the spirit by offering this annual party, where greenery and bows are offered along with refreshments and you build the perfect holiday decoration. The price is $28 for a 12 inch wreath and $40 for a 16 inch wreath. Green Meadows encourages participants to stop by the farmstand or call to reserve a spot

On Saturday 12/1 from 9-2 and 6-8:30, Asbury Grove has a Festival of Trees - bid or submit raffle tickets (5 for $2) on 30+ beautifully decorated trees on different themes...Barbie, Disney, Patriots, Red Sox, old fashioned, beach, Military, etc. Most include gift certificates and lots of presents for UNDER the tree! Snacks and activities for kids - meet Mrs. Claus! Bidding closes at 8:30 p.m. There's also a Christmas Fair in the Dining Hall and Coffee Shop and a Living Nativity scene (7 p.m.) Bundle up and come by for some Christmas cheer! Proceeds benefit the restoration of historic buildings at Asbury Grove, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
