Letter to the editor:
I just had an occasion to go to downtown Hamilton for an appointment on Railroad Avenue. I was shocked to see the condition of the sidewalks on one side of the street. I just cannot imagine in this economy why a business would allow this deplorable condition to exist. It’s just inviting potential customers to take their business elsewhere.
It is not the responsibility of the town to clear the sidewalks in front of businesses and if one business does not do their duty, the other nearby businesses should either confront them or just do it themselves for the sake of their own customers who need to use it.
Don’t have the attitude that “its not my job” “let someone else do it”. It is your job to attract customers and make a good shopping experience for them. It would also make sense to cut a path through the snow bank to the street so that customers can get from their car to the business.
And I don’t what to hear “there is no place to put the snow.” Boloney, there is always room for a little more, or just hire someone to take it away.

Why? Because their employer told them not to report to work as scheduled? Is it now their fault that we are having an unusual winter? Perhaps the condition of the roof tops should have been monitored as it was obvious that snow was accumulating.
If business owners simply don't want to remove the snow themselves, I can think of a few hundred teenagers that could be approached.
