Absentee Ballots for the Nov. 6, 2012 Election

  • October 4, 2012

Absentee ballots for the State Election to be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, are available in the Hamilton Town Clerk’s office and the Wenham Town Clerk’s Office.

Registered Hamilton and Wenham voters are eligible to vote absentee because of absence from town during polling hours (7 a.m.–8 p.m.), physical disability, or religious beliefs. Qualified voters must apply to the Clerk for an absentee ballot application (in person or by mail). Ballots may then be cast in the Clerk’s office or by mail. The last day to request an absentee ballot is Monday, Nov. 5 at noon.

Hamilton residents with questions regarding the upcoming election may call Hamilton’s Town Clerk at 978-468-5570 and Wenham residents may call Wenham’s Town Clerk at 978-468-5520 x1.

Hi, Trudy, what about people who are out of town, like college students? Can you register to vote absentee or do you need to be there in person?

Tracy - voter registration forms can be downloaded from the following link: http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/elepdf/2012-Voter-reg-mail-in.pdf. The form should be mailed directly to their appropriate town clerk. When registering by mail, the voter registration form must be postmarked by the deadline to be eligible. Once they are registered to vote, they can then apply for an absentee ballot by completing an absentee ballot application, at the following link: http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/elepdf/absentee_ballot.pdf Last day to apply for an absentee ballot is Monday, November 5th, noontime, but sufficient time must be granted when ballots are expected to be mailed back and forth. More information about voter registration and/or absentee voting can be found at www.mass.gov/elections. Also, on Wenham's web site, www.wenhamma.gov, under Special Interest - Town Clerk, a Q&A can be found regarding elections.
